Wooden churches, bell towers, manor houses, shacks, and farmhouses are real pearls of the Świętokrzyskie Region, astonishing with their construction and picturesqueness. The most numerous group among the wooden monuments gathered on świętokrzyskie route are sacral objects – churches, chapels, bell towers. In the churches, mainly oriented ones with log structure, we can find rich polychromies, Baroque, late Baroque or Rococo amenities on the walls and ceilings – beautiful altars, crucifixes, sculptures, and paintings presenting Mother of God and Saints. Some of the sanctuaries serve the worshipers till today, others – a bit forsaken and rarely opened – wish to come back to the times of glory.
The route created in the Świętokrzyskie Region is comparable with the Wooden Architecture Route in Małopolska, Śląsk, and Podkarpacie. The route is marked by brown road signs. At the facilities, there are boards with descriptions in Polish, English, and German.
