There are few museums that would coherently present two topics so distant from each other - the world of nature and the world of technology.
A visit to the Starachowice Museum will convince you that these two worlds: the world of nature and technology are, contrary to appearances, extremely close to each other. After all, it was the natural power of the Kamienna River that gave rise to the blast furnace plants, which today have been changed into this extraordinary "museum without walls".
Thanks to a visit to the Ecomuseum, you will get to know the 19th-century technical thought. The most valuable object is undoubtedly the blast furnace from 1899 with a perfectly preserved technological line - track and tower, which supplied the materials necessary for the smelting of pig iron. Compressed air was supplied by one of the world's largest steam engines.
Remember that the history of iron production in Świętokrzyskie goes back much further than the 19th century - metallurgical traditions in these lands are already 2000 years old. You will find out what the first furnaces (so-called bloomeries) looked like by visiting the Archeopark - a reconstruction of a settlement from the beginning of our era.
The exhibition also reminds us of the automotive history of Starachowice. Here you will find cars produced by the former Truck Factory. Motoring enthusiasts will surely recognize the participant of the famous Paris - Dakar rally: the Old 266R and the reconstructed papamobile, i.e. a car created for the needs of the first pilgrimage of Pope John Paul II to Poland in 1979.
You will learn about what the world looked like millions of years ago, specifically in the Permian, Triassic and Jurassic periods, from the realistic paleontological exhibition. Here you will see not only the original tracks of prehistoric animals, but also their realistic models made with scientific accuracy and artistic precision.
The whole is complemented by photo panoramas that show what a world in which prehistoric animals lived could look like. You will also hear sounds that may have filled the space millions of years ago.
