The monastery in Wąchock was built at the turn of the 12th and 13th centuries. Destroyed many times, it returned to its former glory thanks to the monks' persistent work.

The building is one of the most beautiful monuments of sacral architecture in Poland and is a combination of several architectural styles. The monks' meeting rooms, the  chapterhouse and the fraternity are Romanesque in character, the refectory represents early Gothic architecture, and the monastery towers – Baroque.

Within the monastery complex, there is a museum, whose exposition contains materials related to the  January Uprising. In the cloisters, there is a tombstone of Major Jan Piwnik "the Gloomy",  one of the commanders of the Świętokrzyskie groupings of the AK (Home Army). The Cistercian gardens are also open to visitors.
