The synagogue in Nowy Korczyn, formerly filled with a crowd of praying representatives of the Jewish community, is today a picturesque ruin blended into the unusual landscape of the Nida River flowing into the nearby Vistula.

The history of Nowy Korczyn as a place of Jewish life and work ends with the advent of World War II. Today, the ruins of a synagogue remind us of this important community. It was built at the end of the 18th century. According to local tradition, stone from the royal castle in Nowy Korczyn, dismantled in 1776, was used for its construction. What the synagogue looks like today is the result of maintenance works carried out in 2012. It was then that the remains of the roof and part of the walls (to the height of the cornice) were pulled down. The building has a rectangular plan. The front was decorated with a portico supported by classicist columns. Today, the canopy and the portico styled in its shape reminds of it. The classicist Aron-ha-kodesh (a cabinet for storing Torah scrolls) with interesting, symbolic images of lions, which you will find on the eastern wall of the main prayer hall, looks very interesting.
