Today's Nowy Korczyn is a quiet town located on an important national road for the Świętokrzyskie region and near the bridge over the Vistula River. In the past, two important trade routes led through the village - to Ruthenia and Hungary. Thanks to its convenient location, the city has been invested by the most eminent Polish rulers since the Middle Ages.

Today, the former splendor of Nowy Korczyn is evidenced by the parish church standing on the south-western side of the market square. This extremely elegant and proportionate building was built here in the 16th century in place of an older, 14th-century temple. Its current appearance is the result of reconstruction in later centuries.

Already from the market square, you will certainly notice the unusual decoration of the presbytery, with symmetrical gardens adjoining on both sides, decorated with arcades and figures of Christ and the wife of Bolesław the Chaste, Saint Kinga.

Equally symmetrical as the gardens, chapels with domes adjoin the main body of the church from the north and south. The whole is complemented by the western façade, invisible from the market square, where you will find a wealth of sculptures with images of the Mother of God, saints, including the patrons of the church - Elżbieta and Wawrzyniec, as well as municipal (Nowy Korczyn and Kraków) and noble coats of arms.

Inside, it is worth paying attention to the interesting, mannerist stucco decoration, characteristic of many temples in Ponidzie (you can also find similar projects in Pińczów, Kije or Szczaworyż).

In a modest, 18th-century chapel dedicated to Jan Kanty, you will find a rococo reliquary of the chapel's patron, who became famous as an excellent lecturer at the Krakow Academy. In this chapel, lovers of Gothic art will find a fragment of a triptych depicting the Lamentation of Christ.
