Góra Zelejowa – commune Chęciny, 1954, inanimate nature reserve, area of 67.00 hectares, rock forms with the most beautiful examples of karst erosion of Devonian limestones.
It was created to protect rock forms that are examples of karst weathering and geological exposures illustrating interesting tectonic phenomena and the phenomenon of mineralization.
There are also many rare plant species in the reserve, e.g. Rhine cornflower, gawęda aster, Pannonian yarrow, common house sedum, sharp and Bolognese stonecrop as well as blackthorn, barberry and juniper bushes.
This is where the country-famous "Różanka Zelejowska" comes from, the most valuable variety of limestone mined in the vicinity of Chęciny, commonly known as Chęciny marbles. The rose was used for the interior design of the Wawel Cathedral, as well as for the details of the main altar in the Karczówka monastery.
