Pińczów and Ponidzie are full of extraordinary stories. To this day, archaeologists find traces of human activity from the Stone Age.

Centuries ago, a majestic castle towered over the town, and the Pińczów republic was established here during World War II. How do you capture all these stories and not miss any? A visit to the Pińczów Regional Museum will certainly help. The very building that hosts the exhibition gives you the feeling that we are in a place full of history.

The museum halls are located in the atmospheric interiors of the former Pauline monastery. So, before you delve into the history of Pińczów, pay attention to the very architecture of the building. Massive 4 wings surround the inner courtyard, known as the patio. From the outside, the whole is girdled with a richly decorated frieze with floral motifs, angels and the Dębno coat of arms belonging to Zbigniew Oleśnicki, who founded the monastery. The latter element can also be found on the richly decorated portal, which invites you to set off in search of interesting stories from Pińczów and Ponidzie. You will learn a lot about the prehistory of this area from the archaeological exhibition.

How did it live in the Paleolithic period and in the early Middle Ages? What did the prehistoric inhabitants of Ponidzie live with? The oldest exhibits include stone tools - flint axes, scratchers and styluses. You will also find early Iron Age ornaments and weapons. You will also see what the complete medieval burial looked like.
