The smallest of the largest blast furnaces in Poland ... or maybe rather the smallest, because at the end of its operation this device received the affectionate name "Jadwiga"? The villages of Świętokrzyskie Province were still teeming with the life of the steel plants operating there at the end of the 19th century.
This is also the case with Kuźniak, where today, at the crossroads, you will find picturesque stone ruins of a blast furnace. The metallurgical history of Kuźniak dates back to the second half of the 18th century. It was then that a small iron smelting furnace was built. The local people worked there 40 weeks a year, smelting the local resources of iron ore. In the years 1860-1870, private owners erected a new furnace, which operated for almost 30 consecutive years. At the end of the century, the production of iron in the furnaces in Świętokrzyskie became unprofitable due to the growing competition from industrial plants in the Dąbrowa Basin.
Worth knowing
The stove is located on a private property. Currently, you can admire it from behind the fence. Near the blast furnace, the main Świętokrzyski Route begins (or ends). Edmund Massalksi. Remember to take a photo of yourself next to the memorial plaque with a symbolic red dot.
