The ruins of the tower in Nowe Kichary have stood for centuries among loess gorges and the picturesque valley of the Opatówka River.
The preserved tower is a fragment of a defensive structure erected here earlier. In the studies we find information that the fortified manor was built by the Benedictine nuns after their wooden seat in Sandomierz burned down. According to others, a fortified manor, called a castle, stood here before the sisters moved in 1865, which was the aftermath of the tsar's edict. The manor has since fallen into disrepair. During World War II, it was additionally destroyed. In the only tower preserved to this day, a chapel of St. st. Roch. To this day, you can see fragments of wall paintings here. Until the 60s of the last century, this place had a sacral role, then a decade later, the bell and the image of St. Rocha were missing from the chapel. To this day, it is not known what happened to them. Only fragments of the original plaster, a cross and a semi-circular column remain in the chapel.
