History, tradition and great passion - these are the three words that best describe the place where the memory of the craft, for which Chałupki near Morawica was once famous, is kept.

The beginnings of the pottery craft in Chałupki date back to the 16th century. Entire families acquired the necessary skills, knowledge and experience here, passing them on to subsequent generations of potters. The 20th century turns out to be the golden age for the center - there were almost 70 workshops at that time.

Today, pottery is a thing of the past in Chałupki, and the dishes and figurines created here can be found in many ethnographic museums in Poland and abroad. In order to save the tradition from oblivion and show it to as many tourists as possible, one of the most interesting folk pottery centers in Poland has been operating in Chałupki since the 1990s.

A trip to Chałupki is an extraordinary journey through the world of folk art. In the first part of the exhibition you will see pottery created by local masters. You will find here not only a utilitarian vessel, but also charming and graceful clay figurines.

Pottery is a beautiful, but also extremely difficult job. Here, as nowhere else, you can find out for yourself. The resort is equipped with an original two-chamber kiln and all the tools necessary in a potter's workshop.

Together with the curator of the museum - a guide coming from a family with rich pottery traditions - you have a chance to follow the process of creating home-made wonders.

Traditionally, the last Sunday of July is the time of "Chałupkowy garcynki", an unusual folklore event, the main theme of which is pottery. Here you will meet craftsmen not only from the Świętokrzyskie region, but also from all over Poland. It is also a great opportunity to buy clay products made by the best folk artists.
