Bartek oak tree, according to different sources in between 700 and 1000 years old and is one of the most famous and most admired natural monuments in Poland.
According to legends, Polish kings often rested under it: Bolesław Krzywousty, Kazimierz Wielki or Jan III Sobieski, who was to hide the royal treasures in the hollow of a huge oak. Even today, the aged "Bartek" impresses with its size: it is 30m high, nearly 10m in circumference and over 3 m in diameter. It symbolizes strength and perseverance. Right next to it you can see "Bartek's son" – a young oak tree planted in 1966 during the celebrations of the 1000th anniversary of the Polish State.
