Worth knowing, worth remembering...
On June 24, 1944, three platoons under the command of Antoni Heda "Szary" captured the town. Then everything was prepared before the action of the Partisans. At least 20 wagons and people responsible for the subsequent unloading of the captured ammunition were organized. In order to obtain such a valuable cargo, the Partisans were waiting for a German train at the Suchedniów station, which was already almost 2 hours late. In the meantime, a train with German units appeared at the station. There was a skirmish, which seriously injured cadet Józef Świerczyński "Poranek". Despite receiving medical attention, he died. The body of the fallen lies at the Partisan cemetery near Skarżysko-Kamienna.
As an act of revenge, the Germans murdered about 30 prisoners from the prison in Kielce. It took place on July 6, 1944, near the railway station.
