The railway station in Skarżysko - Kamienna was established in 1885, which was the result of launching the Iwangorodzko-Dąbrowska line. The facility was built in the village whose name was Kamienna at that time (and that was also the name of the station) and had, among others, a rolling stock repair workshop, a fire station, a forge, a pumping station and a metalworking workshop. The name Skarżysko was added to the station in 1897, when the railway was nationalized. In 1916, the station was burnt down by the Russians during World War I. Then in the following years it was rebuilt in the same shape.
The history of the name of the station in the years: Бзин (1885–1897) -> Скаржиско (1897–1918) -> Skarzysko (1916-1918) -> Skarżysko (1918-1928) -> Skarżysko Kamienna (1928-1939) -> Skarzysko Kamienna ( 1939–1945) -> Skarżysko Kamienna (1945–present)
In June 2019, work began on the renovation of the station. The grand opening took place on August 16, 2021. The station gained not only a visual effect, but also a functional one. Two ticket offices, waiting rooms, electronic boards for departures and arrivals, inside and outside the building, elevators and automatic doors, signs in Braille, a rainwater recovery system, lowered ticket windows, which are convenient for people on wheelchairs, and sanitary facilities for travelers.
