The place commemorates the victims of the murder committed in October 1943 by the Kielce Gestapo. The Germans carried out a series of arrests among suspects of conspiratorial activity. Some of those arrested were shot in Kielce and its vicinity. On October 24, 1943, 10 people were shot in Słowik.
