Karol Wojtyła has been to Sandomierz several times. As a priest, bishop, archbishop, cardinal… and finally as pope.
This is the papal visit to Sandomierz on On June 12, 1999, a monument commemorates the escarpment over which Collegium Gostomianum rises. It is here, on this hot day, that John Paul II celebrated the Holy Mass with the participation of two dioceses - Sandomierz and the Polish Army in the field.
