Monument to the Battle of Konary 1915.

Konary, which is now calm, welcomes tourists with a charming, hilly landscape with picturesque loess ravines. Numerous war cemeteries and the monument standing at the crossroads of the roads remind of the solemn and important events for the history of the Polish Army in 1915.

In May 1915, the Battle of Konary took place, during which the Austro-Hungarian army clashed with the Russian troops. It is worth mentioning that the 1st Brigade of the Polish Legions fought for the Austro-Hungarian forces. The battle was part of a wider military action that took place near Opatów and Klimontów. The struggle at Konary turned into positional activities in June 1915.
