In the Middle Ages, Tarczek were a market settlement owned by the Bishops of Kraków and the administrative center of their estates.
There was a bishop's court and a small church supposedly erected as early as 1067. Most likely in its place there is now a Romanesque church. st. Idzi from the first half of the 13th century with the remains of the late Renaissance polychrome from the turn of the 16th and 17th centuries, a Gothic bas-relief from the 16th century and a Renaissance triptych from around 1540.
Tarczek was also a witness to the events of the fighting in 1863. On October 29, 1863, the insurgents under the command of General Józef Hauke-Bosak fought a battle that began in the fields of the village of Jeziorko, but the fighting also covered the area of Grabków, Tarczek, Śniadki, Bronkowice, Radków, to Sieradowice. As a result of the fighting, 22 insurgents were killed, including 9 in Tarczek.
