Jędrzejów

The monastery in Jędrzejów is the oldest Cistercian complex in Poland, founded by Jakub Jaksa, later bishop of Gniezno, and his brother Klemens in 1140.

It was at their invitation that the first monks came from Morimond in France to the settlementn then called Brzeźnica. On the left side of the entrance ton the monastery there preserved the tower, which dates back to 1118 and is one of the oldest monuments of Romanesque architecture in the country.

In 17th century side chapel of the church, a specially erected by the monks, there is a sanctuaryn of the Blessed Wincenty Kadłubek, who spent the last years of his life in the monastery of Jędrzejów. In the temple there are also a perfectly preserved, richly ornamented organ from the 18th century, in which unique technical solutions are responsible for the unique unrepeatable sound.
