The church was built over a decade and was built in the 18th century by father Augustyn Obrąpalski. In 1820, a fire broke out in the temple, which caused severe damage. Bishop Marian Józef Ryx created a parish at the church in 1919 on November 24. In 1929, the interior of the temple was restored, giving it a new splendour. A characteristic feature of the local church is the image of Christ Crowned with the Crown, which was created in the 17th century.
Worth knowing...
The story says that on April 8, 1678, on Good Friday, a certain Kazimierz Saryusz Skorkowski, a border bailiff, was praying. While saying a prayer, he saw that drops of blood appeared on the image of Christ Crowned with Thorns. The event had such a strong impact on Kazimierz that he decided to inform the local priest Wojciński on the same day, who, assisted by another priest, went to the scene of the event to investigate the facts. The painting was moved to the court chapel exactly on Easter Monday. Rumors about this event spread around the area very quickly, which caused people to come to pray and leave requests. The grace of God was felt by Kaizmmierz Saryusz Skorkowski himself, when his two-year-old daughter died, he, at the instigation of the nuns of the Drzewicki convent, directed his request in front of the painting. Then a miracle happened, because the child came to life, although two hours had passed since the agreement was confirmed. Due to this situation, the bailiff wrote a letter of intent to the Archdiocese in order to create a church in which he could place this miraculous image. And so, on February 11, 1686, a permission to build a temple was issued.
