They are certainly people who shaped the world of art and culture of the 20th century. But these characters also have something more in common ... You will meet these great artists (or rather their busts) while wandering around the 500-meter square connecting the Kielce city park with Kadzielnia.

Figures made of bronze look from granite pedestals at residents and tourists walking along the climate alleys of the park. Currently, you will see images of nearly 50 writers and poets, directors and actresses, singers and painters, Poles and foreigners. Among the pantheon of stars you will find Paweł Pierściński, among others. He is a photographer associated with the Świętokrzyskie region, whose way of capturing the beauty of the Świętokrzyskie region in the history of art under the name of the Kielce Landscape School.

The sculptures made by local artists together form a true "alley of fame". This is what the inhabitants of Kielce commonly call the square, officially called the Gray Ranks. The Polish Scouting Association operated under this conspiratorial name during World War II. It is the memory of the scouts who died for their homeland that the monument that you will meet more or less in the middle of the main avenue of the square is dedicated to. The sculpture consists of a rock block with an image of an eagle, a scout's lily cross and the sentence "I promise to serve you with my whole life, Fatherland".

Worth knowing

Are you hiking with the kids? Great! They will surely find something for themselves at the square! If your little travelers are full of energy and a walk is not enough for them, use one of the 3 playgrounds. Two of them are located right next to the park alleys, the third one with a chalk board, a playground and a sand laboratory, you will find a little out of the way, next to single-family houses.

You can also bike. The city bike path runs through the square, connecting the recreational green area of ​​the stadium park with the Silnica valley and the Kielce lagoon. In addition to the city residents who went on a recreational trip, you will also meet bicycle tourists from all over Poland, who from the Kielce railway station go on a bicycle trip along the Green Velo Eastern Bicycle Trail.
