The figure stands in Nowa Słupia, at the beginning of the Royal Road leading to the monastery on the Holy Cross at the foot of the Świętokrzyski National Park.
Its creation is related to one of the most popular legends in the Świętokrzyskie Mountains, "About the Holy Cross Pilgrim". It tells the story of a famous, brave knight, whose conceit and pride were punished.
