The origins of aviation in the Ponidzie region date back to the interwar period, when the first gliding school was established in Pińczów in 1932. Following the end of World War II, thanks to the dedication of aviation enthusiasts, the school's operations were resumed and continued until 1954. In the 1980s, a branch of the Kielce Aero Club was established in Pińczów. The further development of aviation was significantly influenced by engineer Michał Ornatkiewicz, a hang glider pilot and Chairman of the Hang Gliding and Paragliding Commission of the Polish Aero Club. Thanks to his efforts, the Pińczów Aero Club was officially established in March 1994. The club specialized in ultralight aviation, including hang gliders, paragliders, and powered hang gliders. Currently, the Pińczów Aero Club conducts paragliding and hang gliding training, as well as training for additional ratings, such as powered paragliding /PPG/, powered paragliding trikes /PPGG/, winch launch training, and courses for launch marshals and winch operators. For several Years now, the Aero Club has been organizing the Polish PPG (Powered Paragliding) Championships, precision flying competitions, and aeromodelling contests.
