Several events directly influenced the faster chances of paying tribute and honor to those who died here fighting the Nazi torturer.

The death of Józef Stalin, changes in the PZPR ranks and the transfer of Józef Światła to the west started a period of hope and amnesty for unjustly imprisoned prisoners. In 1957, the Committee for the Construction of a Commemorative Plaque in Wykus was established. It was located next to the Board of the ZBoWiD branch in Starachowice. At that time, the first sketches of the chapel by Ing. Mieczysław Twarowski. The further activity of the committee was threatened by the Security Services, which at some point in their existence began to investigate the members, who were mostly soldiers of the Home Army. The Home Army Partisan Group "Ponury" - "Nurt", consisting of over 50 soldiers, contributed a considerable sum to create a place to pay tribute to the fallen. Also, many local institutions (around 28) financially supported the initiative. Construction work on Wykus began around August 20. The works were carried out on time and the preparations for the ceremony began soon. On August 29, invitations for correspondents and photojournalists were sent to the editorial office, at the same time asking for an annotation about the upcoming ceremony in the newspaper's announcement section. The Committee sent out over 400 personalized invitations and 150 posters with the following content:

he administrative authorities were informed at the last possible moment about the creation of a memorial site for the fallen. It influenced the deep anxiety of the Security Services, as they were aware of who would be the participants of these celebrations. Former soldiers of the Home Army, some of them did not lay down their arms after the war, continuing to fight in partisans against the Soviets. The board of the ZBoWiD branch in Starachowice applied for a permit for a public assembly on September 15, 1957. The letter was presented to the Social and Administrative Department of the Presidium of the Provincial National Council in Kielce and approved on September 9. On September 15, 1957, a ceremony was held which, according to the Security Services, gathered about 600 people. Mostly partisans, soldiers of the Home Army. For the first time in over 12 years since the end of the war, those who fought together could finally meet. Many later descriptions of participants in this event mention how sublime moments were among "my own".

Almost 70 years have passed since these events, and this place still exists and gathers the still living soldiers of the Home Army or their children. The same old forest road connecting Siekierno and Wąchock leads to Wykus.
