If your expeditions around the Świętokrzyskie region have led you to this area before, you will certainly not be surprised that the town, today famous primarily for its lagoon popular with sunbathers, has a rich industrial tradition.
As in other nearby towns, metallurgy developed here in the 16th and 17th centuries. We know that in 1660, Italian Gibboni, who came from Italy, built a blast furnace here, in which iron was smelted for over 100 years. It was used to produce armaments.
When the furnace ceased to function, fryszers, i.e. devices in which pig iron was melted into steel, were still operating here. When this plant was liquidated, a sawmill and a mill were established on their basis.
Today, on the causeway, which is the dam of the water reservoir, a sharp eye will spot iron nuggets - a memento of the industrial history of this town.
On the eastern side of the reservoir you will find a sandy beach where lifeguards are on duty during the season. The southern shore, in turn, is a place liked by anglers.
