As in the case of many places and buildings in Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski, the history of this church is related to the industrial tradition of the city.

You will find the temples in the Klimkiewiczów estate, which used to be called the metallurgical estate. The church itself is called "metallurgical" or "factory" by the inhabitants of Ostrowiec.

As it is not difficult to guess, the church was to serve the employees of the Ostrowiec Works. It was built on the initiative of Archbishop Władysław Jasiński, and the main sponsor of the construction was the then director of the Plant, Mieczysław Iwaszkiewicz.

The church was built of larch wood, most likely for several reasons. First of all - it was a relatively cheap solution at that time, and the construction of the wooden temple itself did not last long.

However, it can be assumed that during the implementation of the entire project, i.e. in the 1930s, wood was also an extremely symbolic building material, referring to typically Polish architecture, which in itself was of great value for a country that had just regained independence.

Quite impressive in size (as for a wooden temple) the church has the form of a 3-nave basilica - the central nave is therefore higher than the side aisles. The whole is closed with a polygonal presbytery with a sacristy on the west side. They are decorated with “Saturdays”, i.e. low roofs, which in traditional wooden construction were supposed to protect the faithful coming from afar from rain and sun.

The interior of the church is very interesting. It is a very successful example of contemporary, modernist architecture. Pay attention to the walls decorated with marquetry technique (and thus decorating the wooden surface with other types of wood) and the intricate floor mosaic.

The altar is decorated with charming paintings in the style of Young Poland, which is the background for the wooden altar, in which the figure of the Sacred Heart of Jesus stands out.
