Kurzelów, today a quiet village, whose life goes on in the shadow of the larger Włoszczowa, used to be a town and an important center of church authority. The former collegiate church, which is an interesting example of 14th-century sacral architecture, is a witness to Kurzelów's splendour.

Kurzelów became part of the archbishop's estate in the 12th century. The first temple in Kurzelów was wooden. However, it quickly became too small for the needs of the thriving city. Therefore, Archbishop Janisław Bogoria Skotnicki undertook the effort of erecting a larger building.

Despite the turmoil of history, the church has retained its Gothic form. It consists of a Gothic nave and a narrower chancel. Adjacent to the main body are the sacristy, the vestibule, the chapel of the Mother of God, added probably in the 17th century, and the only much later element - the neo-Gothic porch from the 19th century.

The wooden belfry will certainly catch your attention. It is a faithful modern reconstruction of the one that collapsed in 1946.

In the middle of the temple, your attention will surely be drawn to the 8-sided pillar standing in the middle, which bears the weight of the vault. You will also see a Gothic portal from the second half of the 14th century in the vestibule. Inside, a brass Gothic baptismal font from the 15th century and a decorative tombstone of Marianna Baranowska from the 17th century stand out.
