The nature reserve is located in a large forest complex west of Włoszczowa. Due to the specific conditions prevailing here, Ługi as a nesting place is favored by birds associated with the wetland and forest environment.
The area of the nature reserve includes an overgrowing water body, peat bogs and a pine forest surrounding them, which grows here on a band of dunes. Such a specific landform was created here during the last ice age. At that time, there was no vegetation in this area and the sand could be freely transported by the wind.
It was found that at different times of the year there are from 40 to even 90 species of birds - common and rare. Many of them have their nesting place here. Remember, however, that seeing a black stork, snip or teal requires knowledge, equipment and patience.
