"This village on the road between Waśniów and Ostrowiec is one of the most delightful places in our country" - this is how Kazimierz Stronczyński, who headed the Delegation of the Administrative Council of the Kingdom of Poland, wrote about Mychów in the 19th century.

Today, this town may not make such an impression on the newcomers. However, it is worth visiting it and seeing places that testify to its rich history. One of them is the church of st. Barbara.

Jan Długosz already mentions the church in Mychów, but he provides very brief information.

The present temple was erected in the second half of the 18th century. The simple body is made up of a nave, a rectangular presbytery and two symmetrically adjoining chapels giving it the shape of a cross. The whole is complemented by two towers covered with roofs with decorative lanterns.

History has not been kind to the temple. In May 1920, its renovation began. The works were interrupted by a fire in 1921, which consumed almost the entire building. However, they did not give up - the faithful could use the church already at the end of 1922. Over the next years, the temple underwent many renovations and renovations, giving it a modern form.

Inside, note the contemporary high altar. During Advent, Lent or other important celebrations, the central point of the altar is occupied by a retractable image of Saint Barbara. Behind it - in a niche - there is a statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
