The history of Ćmielów combines many threads that go much further than the production traditions of the world-famous porcelain. When visiting the town, it is worth taking a look at its monuments, which are the best proof of the centuries-old history of the town.

Located on the main road, the church dates back to the Middle Ages. The most famous Polish chronicler, Jan Długosz, mentions a brick temple made of white stone. However, his Liber Beneficiorum lacks information on the exact date of the church's founding. Długosz also does not give the surname (or even the first name) of the founder.

Science came to help in determining the history of the temple in Ćmielów. Research carried out during the renovation showed that the walls contain fragments dating back to the 14th century.

Historical turmoil did not spare the temple. In the mid-sixteenth century, the church was destroyed by the Arians, and 100 years later, ruined by the Swedes during the Deluge. Since then, the arduous work of successive church administrators has begun, consisting in the reconstruction and tidying up of the area around the church.

The temple was rebuilt, and the building underwent another renovation in the 18th and 19th centuries. The characteristic, four-sided, three-storey belfry also dates from this period, welcoming tourists coming to Ćmielów from afar.
