Wąchock railway station

ul. Dworcowa, Wąchock
51°04'46"N 21°01'00"E (51.07955, 21.01673)

Why do the passengers of the train to Wąchock gather in one compartment? Because if the train has 3 train cars, the first stops behind Wąchock, the last before and only the middle one goes.

(There is a tradition of Wąchock jokes in Polish culture)

Built in 1910 and operating continuously since then. It has 2 platforms, 3 platform edges and 4 main tracks. At one time, the siding led to the car factory in Starachowice. In recent years, it has been dismantled due to lack of use.

The station used to be equipped with a ticket office, a small newsstand, a waiting room for travelers, a left-luggage office and a traffic controller's room. In one part of the complex there was a boiler room, and toilets were located in and outside the building. The style of the station can be described as socialist realist.

After the political transformation, it became the object of devastation by breaking windows and painting graffiti on the walls. It is currently in poor condition.
