Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski, famous for its metallurgical industry, should have efficient car transport.

In 1946, on August 1, the company began its historical activity under the name of PKS. In the first years, there were 5 buses whose drivers were still fighting on the front in World War II a moment ago, and today they drive a surplus GMC vehicle. In 1949, the PKS Branch was established in Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski, which was under the authority of the District PKS Directorate in Łódź. The rolling stock was increased by 3 Leyland buses and 3 Fiat trucks received from the head office. In addition to the transport of people, the transport of goods was additionally dealt with.

Significant progress was made in 1954, because many investments were made, which had a positive impact on the development of PKS. The emerging Glassworks in Sandomierz, 50 km away, made it necessary to create a PKS branch in this town as an independent unit. Therefore, part of the rolling stock and crew moved from Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski. In 1964, the first long-distance bus connections were established, e.g. with Warsaw, Rzeszów and Lublin. The duty of servicing the Sulfur Mine near Staszów fell to PKS. As a result, some employees were delegated to Staszów, Machów and Grzybów. In 1967, the car company from Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski played a significant role in the emerging Metallurgical Plant. In 1974, a bus station was put into use, which was supposed to be temporary and served until 1998. In the years 1995-1998, the bus station was reconstructed and adapted to a modern one. In 1998, an oil change and lubrication station was created, which is the result of several years of cooperation with the Refinery, and in the following year, with the help of Petrochemia Płock, the reform of the petrol station. The purchase of fuel takes place here 24 hours a day.

In 2000, by the decision of the Minister of Treasury, the State Enterprise was commercialized into Przedsiębiorstwo PKS in Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski, a company wholly owned by the State Treasury. From November 1, 2001, the full name is Przedsiębiorstwo Komunikacji Autochdowej w Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski Spółka Akcyjna.
