Czarnca is a small village near Włoszczowa, where the famous Polish crown hetman Stefan Czarniecki, considered a national hero, was born and buried.

His body rests in the crypt of the church of the Assumption of Virgin Mary and St. Florian in a sarcophagus of red sandstone. In the chapel, added to the church in the nineteenth century, there are numerous remembrances of the hetman, including the image "Virgin Mary with child" dating back to the sixteenth century from the field altar of Czarniecki, paintings depicting his image, including the one with his beloved horse, a golden chalice – the hetman's votive offering to the church after the battle of Smoleńsk, and a throw made from the caparison of Karol X Gustaw's horse.

Stefan Czarniecki is the patron of the Primary School in Czarnca. In the building there is a memorial chamber dedicated to the hetman and in front of it – a monument.
