Few people who rest on a sandy beach know that the Chańcza reservoir was created not for recreational but for industrial purposes. A huge dam was built here in the years 1974-1984 to collect water for the needs of the nearby chemical plant.

Today, after that activity, there is an impressive water reservoir located among pine forests and gentle hills of the buffer zone of the Cisowsko-Orłowiński Landscape Park. Sandy beaches, with guarded bathing spots and water equipment rentals in the season, give you the opportunity to rest by the water.

Chańcza is also known to fans of windsurfing, kayaking and motorboat sports. If you wander away from the beaches, you will certainly meet anglers who can count on a meeting with perch or pike. Not only people rest over Chańcza. The reservoir creates good conditions for water and marsh birds - both for those that build their nests here and for those species that land here only for a short rest. If you are on Chańcza, check out the small village from which the reservoir took its name. In its vicinity you will find an almost 300-year-old oak called "Biskup".
