The reservoir in the southern part of Skarżysko-Kamienna is surrounded by forests, providing a respite from the hustle and bustle of the city.
It is hard to believe that the reservoir was built at the beginning of the 19th century not for recreational but industrial purposes. Until 1903, the water collected here was used to power devices operating next to the Rejów smelter, and after World War II, the reservoir provided the water needs of the Skarżysko industrial plants. Currently, the area around the reservoir is a favorite place of rest not only for the residents of Skarżysko-Kamienna, but also for tourists and visitors to Świętokrzyskie Province.
