In St. Adalbert's Square on November 18, 1943, Schutzpolizei officers shot and killed ten men who had been brought from the municipal prison.
The order to shoot was issued by the Gestapo office in Kielce and it was the second mass execution that took place on that day in Kielce. The bodies of those shot were buried at the place of execution. After the war, the bodies were exhumed and buried in a partisan cemetery. On July 22, 1969, a monument was erected to commemorate ten scattered Poles. It was erected on the square between St. Wojciech Square and ul. Bodzentyńska.
