Significant moments in the development of the present Skarżysko-Kamienna area were first the construction and commissioning of a railway line to Dęblin and Silesia in 1883 and then the government decision to build a large armament plant here.

The State Ammunition Factory was established here in 1923, which until 1939 supplied the Polish Army with ammunition of many calibers at the world technical level. The difficult period of World War II was equally important for the fate of the city. It began in 1940 when the Germans shot about 360 people associated with the underground in the city (the White Eagle Organization).

The museum named after the Organization of the White Eagle documents not only the regional history of Skarżysko but also collects and makes available a unique collection of military items, both outdoors and in the  historic building formerly the administrative base of Huta "Rejów",  built in the 1830s. You can see exhibits from the period of World War II as well as from the times of the  "Cold War".

A real attraction is the torpedo boat ORP "Odważny" ("Brave"), the last surviving ship of this class constructed and built in Poland, or the Ił-14 transport plane. In addition, there are also under license in Polish plants, Lim planes as well as other planes, transporters, tanks, a collection of cannons and howitzers including the ASU-85  self-propelled guns or the German Sturmgeschütz IV. Additionally, you can visit the site of the former steelworks, the history of which has been outlined with the use of educational boards.
