The latest of the earliest ... this is how you can describe this monument of Romanesque architecture in Poland. The oldest part of the church, a very well-preserved fragment of the Romanesque rotunda, is one of the latest built Romanesque buildings in Poland.
Archaeological research conducted in the 1970s confirms that the oldest and most valuable part of the church, i.e. the Romanesque rotunda, was built in the 14th century. In the 17th century, a nave was added to the stone rotunda. Part of the roof collapsed in the nineteenth century. The temple was quickly restored to a working condition. Today, the church is an excellent example of how a monument of Romanesque art can be one with the elements created in the following centuries.
