The area where you are wandering now was the site of the tank battle between the Soviet Army and the Wehrmacht in January 1945. German tanks were circled. The only chance was to escape over the Black Nida bridge in Morawica. However, not all vehicles managed to get there. Many got stuck in the river and were cut for scrap after the war. The memory of these events is still alive among the locals. There are legends about tanks that still lie at the bottom of the Black Nida River.
