There are also memorials associated with the period of the Second World War on the trail. A Home Army unit under the command of Major Jan "Ponury" Piwnik was stationed in the forests near Starachowice and fought numerous skirmishes.
The testimony of these events are monuments commemorating the partisans of Major Marian Świderski, pseud. "Dzik" and Sec. Edumnda Rachtana ps. "Kaktus" in Starachowice. Together with Zdzisław Rachtan "Halny" they fought during the war, and after that they formed the Home Army veterans' milieu, organized patriotic celebrations in Wykus and Wąchock.
