The building of the house of prayer and the cemetery (i.e. the Jewish cemetery) are one of the few souvenirs of the Jewish community that you will see today when walking along the streets of Szydłowiec.

The main synagogue in Szydłowiec no longer exists - due to its terrible condition, it was demolished after World War II. It was located on the site of today's high school.

On Garbarska Street, there was a private house of prayer connected with a residential building. The synagogue belonged to the Ajzenberg family and was established for the needs of employees of the local tannery.

History has not been kind to this building. During World War II it was devastated. Later, it was, among others, the seat of a common room, it even housed a catering facility.

Numerous renovations meant that only the front wall retained its original, Baroque-Classicist character.
