A trip on the Starachowice Narrow-Gauge Railway is quite an adventure in itself.
First of all, it is an extraordinary meeting with the living industrial history in the vicinity of Starachowice. The narrow-gauge railway in this area provided, above all, the transport of materials for local industrial and mining plants. Initially, it connected the blast furnace in Starachowice with timber holds, iron ore mines and a sawmill.
After World War II, it was decided to build a line belonging to the state railway, which connected Starachowice with Iłża along the track of the partially existing track. Although the line was closed in 1997, today the Starachowice railway has tourist and recreational functions.
The approximately 6-kilometre ride from the Starachowice Wschodnie Wąskotorowe station will end at the station in Lipie. It is a perfect place for recreation - you will find forest sheds with a place for a bonfire. It is also a place from which you can start your journey through the Iłża forest, and go mushroom picking in autumn.
