Strzyżowice is a small, quiet village a few kilometers from Opatów, which hides a real wealth of history.
The temple you will see here is not the first church in the village. However, the original wooden church was demolished in the 17th century. Soon a new temple was built, located "120 steps from the place where the old church stood." This one, however, according to tradition, began to fall into ruin.
As a well-known historian and regionalist, priest Jan Wiśniewski, writes, Mrs. Podstolina Reklewska, traveling through Strzyżowice to the heirs of Konary, the Sołtyk family, could not bear the sight of the church in Strzyżowice falling into ruin. In 1783, thanks to the efforts of Felicjanna Reklewska, a church was built, which you can admire today.
The modest body of the church consists of a short nave, a narrower and lower chancel and a porch. Also the interior, devoid of polychrome, is characterized by a certain austerity. The gilded Rococo altars definitely stand out here.
