Kosyniers Mound it is one of the 3 mounds erected to commemorate the battle fought on June 6, 1794 near Szczekociny.
The Kosyniers' Mound is built on the site of a mass grave of about 1,000 fallen soldiers fighting on the side of the Kościuszko insurgents.
The name of this place refers to the volunteer units that took part in the uprising (the battle of Szczekociny was no exception), consisting mainly of peasants armed with combat scythes
At the mound there is a commemorative plaque dedicated to Bartosz Głowacki, wounded in the Battle of Szczekociny - a legendary kosynier, who became famous primarily for his bravery in the battle of Racławice in April 1794.
It is worth knowing that the Kosynierów Mound is also called the Grochowski Mound after Jan Grochowski, who, according to some sources, rests in a mass grave under the mound.
The place dedicated to scythemen is one of the 3 mounds raised in memory of those fighting at Szczekociny - nearby you will also find the Kościuszko Mound and the Prussian Mound.
