The mound owes its name to the figure of St. John of Nepomuk - the patron saint of fishermen and defenders against floods. It stands on top of a 5-meter-high hill in the shape of a truncated cone at the top. However, the history of this place goes back much further than the age of origin of the figure.

According to archaeological research, the mound is the remains of a medieval conical stronghold. According to the boldest dating, the foundation dates back to the turn of the 14th and 15th centuries. On its top there was a defensive tower. It is known that it had several storeys and a basement.

At the base of the mound, archaeologists found the remains of a bridge from the 16th century - it is the only bridge leading to this type of object discovered so far.
