John of Nepomuk is one of those saints who most often look at you while walking or cycling through the roads and wilderness of Poland.
Nepomucen is a clergyman associated with Prague. He is a saint who, according to Polish folk tradition, was supposed to protect against both flood and drought.
The figure of Jan Nepomucen from Sancygniów comes from the 18th century. Like many Ponidzie sanctuaries, it is made of local limestone. Saint John of Nepomuk looks at the Sancygnis from the decorated plinth. He holds a cross in his hands, and his head is decorated with a biretta characteristic of this saint.
On the pedestal you can read that the good condition of the statue is due to the local volunteer fire brigade, which in the 1970s took care of the funds for the renovation of the monument.
