On August 31, 1912, Jan Piwnik was born in the house in Janowice at number 30. Known to history as "Ponury" - the legendary partisan commander of the Home Army in the Świętokrzyskie Mountains.

For many years, memorabilia of "Ponury" was collected by his brother - Józef Piwnik, nicknamed "Topola". The amount of collected items and the desire to preserve the memory of the commander made the private house quickly change into a memorial room, which for many years attracted history buffs and tourists.

Currently, a village hall is being built in Janowice along with a new memory room.
